At the Sylvania Senior Center we are always working to make sure we provide services that assist in the wellness of our members by providing fitness programs and healthy meals that are always served with a smile. Please see below for a full list of what's going on now at the Sylvania Senior Center!
SENIOR NUTRITION

Hot meals are served at the center:

Monday-Friday 11:45 AM - 1:00 PM

Hot meals are served at the center Monday - Friday 11:45 AM - 1:00 PM . The meals come from the Senior Nutrition Program through the Area Office on Aging. Nutrition is of the utmost concern to help reduce colds and illnesses.  The meals furnished through the Senior Nutrition Program provide one-third the daily recommended nutritional requirements.  If you are interested in eating lunch at the center, you must call and make a reservation by noon the day before. A donation of $2.50 is requested for anyone 60 years and older. For those under 60, a donation of $5.32 is requested. Monthly menus are available at the Greeter’s desk, in the office or through the link below. If you can’t make your reservation, please call the center as early as possible to cancel your reservation.

Body Recall

Jazzercise

Restorative Yoga

Active relaxation, providing a supportive environment to reduce chronic stress; Sheila Johnson, certified instructor.

Strength & Balance

Increase muscle and bone density, to improve flexibility and balance for the whole body; Cara Jones, instructor.

  • Friday, 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
  • $25.00 for 6 sessions

Strength Training

Improve strength and bone density through weight bearing exercises for upper and lower body; Connie Nusum, instructor.

Tai Chi

Blood Pressure Checks and Blood Sugar Screenings

Location: On Site at the Senior Center.

Blood Glucose

Location: On Site at the Senior Center.

Podiatrist

Location: On Site at the Senior Center.

Seniors can make appointments to see Dr. Thomas McCabe on the 4th Thursday of the month. He accepts most medical cards and referrals. Appointment necessary 419-885-3913.

Winter Walking

Tam-O-Shanter makes their indoor soccer field available for seniors to walk during the winter months. Access is through the front door of Tam-O-Shanter or the "green" double doors in the Great Room.
  • Monday, through Friday, 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM (January and February 2012)
  • Starting March 1, 2012 - March 30, Monday through Wednesday, 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM
  • Program ends for the season March 30, 2012
Open Gym Schedule

Subject to change due to availability of great room. Changes will be posted on the dry erase board in the Great Room. Please note : Before using any exercise equipment you must sign a waiver located in the office.
